Monthly Insights at Harriss Jones Lawyers - February

It is once again time for our monthly newsletter. February has been a busy month and we’ve gotten off to a great start for 2026. We can’t believe we are already two months into the new year!

If you haven’t met her already, our new receptionist Nicole started in January who is already getting to know our valued clients, and assisting them through their journey with whatever milestone they are navigating. Nicole will be the consistent friendly face upon your arrival at our office. Welcome Nicole!

On the 17th February, Kathryn and Melanie attended the Supreme Courts seminar on the incoming changes to Anti-money laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing laws (AML/CTF) and their implications for the legal profession. Presented by Justice Payne of the NSW Court of Appeal, this session offered valuable insights into what we can expect as part of these changes and their implications on our clients moving forward. You can even watch the seminar on the Supreme Courts YouTube channel. You can book an appointment with Kathryn or Melanie here to see how you might be affected by these changes.

On the 19th of February, Seth attended a seminar presented by prominent Barrister Patrick Griffin of Seventh Floor Garfield Barwick Chambers on advocating at NCAT. We are always looking for ways to improve our offering to our valued clients and with an increase in support needed in relation to NCAT matters this seminar discussed how solicitors can best do this. Seth will be ready to support those with NCAT proceedings and assist them through the process in the best way possible. You can book an appointment with him here to discuss your matter.

On 20th February, Kathryn attended the Spark Legal Conference hosted by Smokeball. This great conference hosted speakers including Antoinette Lattouf, Mark Bouris, and comedian Dilruk Jayasinha among many others in the legal profession. Held at Sydney's newest event space, ILUMINA, the conference inspires innovation, growth and inspiration on how we can improve our offerings for you and ensure we continue to provide you with the best possible service and support for your life milestones.

You’ll also notice we’ve changed our website and now merged our blog onto our website. Legal Lens replaces our previous latest news page and you’ll start to see more articles written by our team that are tailored to you and our areas of expertise. If you are subscribed to our monthly newsletter, this will also look a little different but still offer the same great articles but all from us! This has been as a result of feedback from our readers who have appreciated all our tailored articles which help all our valued clients make informed decisions about their matters and answer some initial questions about whatever issue they’re facing. We love your feedback and if there’s a question you want answered, send us an email at admin@hjlaw.com.au.

We’d also like to extend our congratulations to all our clients who have recently purchased property or sold and moved into new homes. It’s been a busy month for the conveyancing team as always! We are grateful for your trust and are always here to support you with your legal needs as you move forward.

Our team remains committed to providing high-quality legal services to all our clients. Whether you need assistance with a property transaction, will or business-related matter, we’re here to help. Ready to make an enquiry and get started? Visit this link to make an initial enquiry.
